Every year more than 60,000 inpatients and outpatients are treated at the university medical center Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum, the majority of which receive operations. For most people these interventions create insecurities and fear. Ranging from the surgeon to the anesthesiologist and operation nurse, every staff member is aware of this and therefore gently addresses the patient’s needs.
The Knappschaftskrankenhaus owns eleven highly modern operation rooms. At the end of 2006, the new operative intensive care unit was opened. This ensures future oriented, high performance medicine, while being loyal to the motto that above all technical options the human being has to stay the center of all action.
