Cafeteria and Kitchen
“Food keeps body and soul together” is an old German proverb. Especially at a hospital, proper nutrition is essential to help patients regain their strength. At the university medical center Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum 60 staff members provide patients with 900 warm meals daily.
The emphasis is on good flavor and a diverse menu. We have many different menus to choose from: whole food, light balanced diet, diabetic diet, vegetarian diet and varied special diets. All meals are cooked with recipes but always with a personal touch to them.
On average per year the kitchen uses an estimated amount of 180,000 rolls, 5,00kg beef, 30,000 liters of fresh milk and 11 tons of potatoes.
